Motor Mechanical Infrared Inspection

Excess heat means excess friction. Before a mechanical component fails, it heats up. Infrared thermography (IRt) is used to perform mechanical infrared inspections. Documenting and providing a visual representation of this excess heat so maintenance personnel can plan, schedule and correct the problem before the component fails, eliminating ancillary damage, personnel/safety hazards or production downtime.

Trending electrical motor temperatures during normal operation is the key to this type of service. Once a baseline has been established the interval of inspections can be easily adjusted to suit individual failure modes and actual equipment utilization.
